Visiting Day with Jesus
He had been waiting for this moment all day—
all week, really—after six long days of labour.
At last, it arrived.
Visiting Day.
The man with the keys came, swinging open the large, heavy doors.
Cold halls stirred awake as warm light spilled in.
Jesus could hardly contain His emotions.
Families began to arrive.
From the corner of the room, He watched intently, longing for the first glimpse of those He loved. He lived for the weekends. He lived for these visits.
Cars pulled into the lot. One by one, He watched. Then finally—they came.
The ones for whom He would do anything.
They embraced Him.
They sat with Him.
They shared a light meal and spoke of how things used to be.
Some moments were quiet.
Others were joyful.
At one point, they even broke into song.
And then—far too soon—it was over.
The man with the keys returned.
The heavy doors closed.
The key turned in the lock, sealing the end of a special day.
Jesus was alone again.
He knew that most of His visitors would not speak with Him again until the following week.
As the last car pulled out of the church parking lot, a tear welled up in His eye. He knew that some—far too many—would not visit Him again until the next Sabbath.
Another Visiting Day gone.
And He wondered:
Is this what your time with Me looks like?
A scheduled visit?
A weekly appointment?
Or are you building a daily walk—
an ongoing, living relationship?
Please, make every moment of every day Visiting Day with Jesus.
Meditation
And let us consider one another to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
