As the pages are turned, what shall they see. Oh, What does it matter turn on the TV So they open the book in which they confide No not the Bible the TV guide. The word of God is seldom read. Maybe a verse before they fall into bed. Exhausted and slept and tired as can be. Not from reading the Bible, from watching T.V. So then back to the table side by side, Lie the Holy Bible and the T.V. guide. No time for prayer, no time for the word. The plan of salvation is seldom heard. But forgiveness of sin, so full and free, Is found in the Bible, not on the T.V. — Author Unknown Meditation: If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. There is a judge for the one who rejects me

Blood soaked her bandage. A single line of blood ran down her cheek. Now the tall Ragman looked upon this child with pity, and he drew a lovely yellow bonnet from his cart. “Give me your rag,” he said, tracing his own line on her cheek, “and I’ll give you mine.” The child could only gaze at him while he loosened the bandage, removed it, and tied it to his own head. The bonnet he set on hers. And I gasped at what I saw: for with the bandage went the wound! Against his brow it ran a darker, more substantial blood – his own! “Rags! Rags! I take old rags!” cried the sobbing, bleeding, strong, intelligent Ragman. The sun hurt both the sky, now, and my eyes; the Ragman seemed more and more to hurry. “Are you going to work?” he asked a man who leaned against a telephone

When earthly interests and occupations are more important to us than eternal ones. 3. When we would rather watch TV and read secular books and magazines than read the Bible and pray. 4. When we have little or no desire for prayer. 5. When we would rather make money than give money. 6. When our Christianity is joyless and passionless. 7. When we know truth in our heads that we are not practicing in our lives. 8. When we make little effort to witness to the lost. 9. When we have time for sports, recreation, and entertainment, but not for Bible study and prayer. 10. When we do not tremble at the Word of God. 11. When we seldom think thoughts of eternity. 12. When we are more concerned about our jobs and careers than about the Kingdom of Christ and the salvation of the lost. 13. When Christian husbands and wives are

Are You Waiting for A Calling?

Are You Waiting for A Calling?

We are so busy living in a world that is full of noise and clatter, like that office. People are distracted and unable to hear the still, small voice of God calling as He speaks in creation, in the Scriptures, and in the life and work of Jesus Christ. The question is, “Are you listening to what the LORD is saying, or are you waiting to be called? Do you hear the LORD when he speaks to you or you are too occupied with the clatter all around you?”

I’ve gone for 30 years now,” he wrote, “and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But, for the life of me, I can’t remember a single one of them. So I think I’m wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all.” This started a real controversy in the “Letters to the Editor” column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: “I’ve been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me those meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead

After a couple of correspondences with the real author, please read the original version of the poem below and be blessed by it: When I say, “I am a Christian” I’m not shouting, “I’ve been saved!” I’m whispering, “I get lost sometimes That’s why I chose this way” When I say, “I am a Christian” I don’t speak with human pride I’m confessing that I stumble Needing God to be my guide When I say, “I am a Christian” I’m not trying to be strong I’m professing that I’m weak And pray for strength to carry on When I say, “I am a Christian” I’m not bragging of success I’m admitting that I’ve failed And cannot ever pay the debt When I say, “I am a Christian” I don’t think I know it all I submit to my confusion Asking humbly to be taught When I say, “I am a Christian” I’m not claiming to be perfect My flaws are all too visible But God believes I’m worth it When I say, “I
