Boudreaux lived across the bayou from Clarence, whom he didn’t like at all. All the time, they would yell across the bayou at each other. Boudreaux would yell to Clearance, “If I had a way to cross this bayou, I’d come over there and teach you good, yeah! This went on for years.
Finally, the state built a bridge across the bayou right by their houses. Boudreaux’s wife said to him, “Now is your chance, Boudreaux. Why don’t you go over there and teach him good like you say?” Boudreaux started across the bridge, and partway across, he saw a sign and stopped to read it. Then he turned to go back home.
His wife said, “Why are you back so soon?” Boudreaux replied, “I changed my mind about Clarence. They have a sign on that bridge that says Clarence is 13’ 6”. You know he doesn’t look that big when I yell at him from across the bayou…!”
Twelve spies crossed into the land God had already planned for Israel to have. Two of them saw the opportunities God would provide; unfortunately, ten of them saw only the giants and their limitations.
Life’s problems can seem so big when they’re smaller than we imagine them to be. Even should they turn out to be “13’ 6” Clarence’s, we can still put our trust in God’s promises:
Meditation: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Philippians 4:19-20
