They dreaded the awful storms that raged across the Atlantic, wreaking havoc on the buildings and crops. As the farmer interviewed applicants for the job, he received a steady stream of refusals. Finally, a short, thin man, well past middle age, approached the farmer. “Are you a good farm hand?” the farmer asked him. “Well, I can sleep when the wind blows,” answered the little man. Although puzzled by this answer, the farmer, desperate for help, hired him. The little man worked well around the farm, busy from dawn to dusk, and the farmer felt satisfied with the man’s work. Then one night the wind howled loudly in from offshore. Jumping out of bed, the farmer grabbed a lantern and rushed next door to the hired hand’s sleeping quarters. He shook the little man and yelled, “Get up! A storm is coming! Tie things down before they blow away!” The little man rolled over in bed and said firmly, “No sir. I told

Don’t do a single thing until I get there. I’m calling my brother back, and we’ll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don’t do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?!” She hangs up. The old man hangs up his phone at the other end and turns to his wife. “Sorted! They’re both coming for Christmas and they’re paying their own way.” While this anecdote may sound amusing, it

He told the rancher, “I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs.” The rancher said, “Okay, but don’t go into that field over there…”, as he pointed out the location. The DEA Agent verbally exploded and said, “Look, mister, I have the authority of the federal government with me!” Reaching into his rear back pocket, the arrogant officer removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the rancher. “See this badge?! This badge means I can go wherever I want… On any land! No questions asked, no answers given! Do you understand old man?!” The rancher nodded, apologized, and went about his chores. Moments later the rancher heard loud screams, he looked up and saw the DEA agent running for his life, being chased by the ranchers big Santa Gertrudis Bull. With every step, the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it was likely that he’d, sure enough, get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified. The old rancher threw down his tools, ran as fast as he

We try to keep God in church on Sunday morning… Maybe, Sunday night…And, the unlikely event of a midweek service. We do like to have Him around during sickness. And, of course, at funerals. However, we don’t have time, or room, for Him during work or play. Because that’s the part of our lives we think we can, and should, handle on our own. May God forgive me for ever thinking that there is a time or place where He is not to be first in my life. We should always have time to remember all He has done for us. Why is it so hard to tell the truth but yet so easy to tell a lie? Why are we sleepy in church, but suddenly wake up immediately the sermon is over? Why is it so hard to talk about God but yet so easy to talk about nasty stuff? Why

You have so much energy, And you never seem to get down.” With her eyes smiling, she said, “I know the Secret!” “What secret is that?” To which she replied, “I’ll tell you all about it, But you have to promise to Share the Secret with others.” “The Secret is this: I have learned there is little I can do In my life that will make me truly happy. I must depend on God to make Me happy and to meet my needs. When a need arises in my life, I have to trust God to supply According to HIS riches. I have learned most of the time I don’t need half of what I think I do. He has never let me down. Since I learned that ‘Secret’, I am happy.” The questioner’s first thought was, “That’s too simple!” But upon reflecting over his own life He recalled how he thought a bigger house would make him happy, but it didn’t! He thought a better paying job would make him happy, but
