One day in this beautiful shop they saw a beautiful teacup. They said, “May we see that? We’ve never seen one quite so beautiful.” As the lady handed it to them, suddenly the teacup spoke, “You don’t understand,” it said, “I haven’t always been a teacup.”
“The Changed Cross” is a poem that tells of a weary woman who taught that the cross she must bear surely was heavier than those of other people, so she wished she could choose another person’s instead.

There’s nothing in there.” “Have a look inside.” insisted the stranger. The beggar managed to pry open the lid. In astonishment and disbelief, and elation he discovered that the box was filled with gold! I am that stranger who has nothing to give you and who is telling you to look inside. Not inside any box, as in the parable, but somewhere even closer inside: inside yourself. You have a treasure within that not only includes great value but is infinitely greater than anything the world can offer.

When the mother’s car drove up beside the child she lowered the window and called to her, “What are you doing? Why do you keep stopping?”
