Nine little Christians stayed up very late, One slept in on Sunday, then there were eight. Eight little Christians on their way to heaven, One took the low road, then there were seven. Seven little Christians chirping like chicks, One disliked the music, then there were six. Six little Christians seemed very much alive, But one lost his interest, then there were five. Five little Christians pulling for Heaven’s shore, But one stopped to rest, then there were four. Four little Christians, each busy as a bee, One got her feelings hurt, then there were three. He was whistling a real sweet tune for he was saved and had the joy of the Lord, but he was a baby Christian. As he was walking, a beautiful and seductive woman came out from behind a tree. Startled, he said, “Hello, I’m Soul, what is your name?” She replied, “I am Temptation, I have what you want.” “What do I want?” “You want to do all things which are of the flesh,” said Temptation. Soul replied, “O.K., lead me.” So he and Temptation went off and fulfilled the desires of the flesh. When Soul returned to the garden, he met a man named Condemnation. A man got dressed in the evening and set out… This is a story that teaches us some lessons about how to deal with discouragement at moments in our lives. A man got dressed in the evening and set out on his way to God’s house. On his way to Church, the man fell and his clothes got dirty. He got up, brushed himself up and headed home. At home, he changed his clothes and was again on his way to Church. Again, he fell at the same spot! He, again, got up, brushed off the dirt and headed home. At home, he once again changed his clothes and walked out heading to God’s house. On his way, he met a man holding a lamp. He asked to know his identity and the man replied, “I saw you fall twice on your way, so I brought a lamp so I can light your way.” The first man thanked him profusely and the two went on their way to the Church.
