Visiting Day with Jesus
He was looking forward to this moment all day and all week long, after 6 days of labour.
It finally arrived – Visiting Day!
The man with the keys arrived to swing open the large, heavy doors.
The cold hall springs to life in the warm glow of light. He could
hardly control His emotions.
The families began to arrive. He peers from the corner of the room, longing
for the 1st glimpse of His loved one. He lives for the weekends. He lives for
these visits.
As the cars arrive, He watches intently. Then, finally, they arrive, the ones for
whom He would do anything. They embrace and visit, then eat a light lunch and reminisce about how
things used to be.
Some moments are quiet, others joyful, and at one point, they break into singing. But all too soon, it is over.
Then the man with the keys closes the heavy doors. The key turns in
the lock, marking the end of a special day. He’s alone again because He knows that most of His visitors will not have any contact with Him again till next week.
A tear comes to Jesus’ eye as the last car pulls out of the church parking lot. He knows that some, far too many, will not visit with Him again until the next Sabbath — Visiting Day.
Does this describe your time with Jesus, or are you taking time to build a daily walk, an ongoing relationship with Him? Please make every moment of every day Visiting Day with Jesus.
Meditation: And let us consider one another to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. – Hebrews 24-25
