What makes you ask such a question?” the man said irritatingly. “Oh, I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?” pleaded the little boy. “Well, if you must know, I make $20.00 an hour.” “Oh,” the little boy replied, head bowed. Looking up, he said, “Daddy, may I borrow $10.00 please?” The father was irritated. “If the only reason you want to know how much money I make is so you can borrow some for a dopey toy or other nonsense, then off to your room and think about your selfishness. And besides, you’re only 6 years old, and 6 year-olds don’t need money. I work long, hard hours every day to earn money for you and your mom, I don’t have time to talk about loaning you money”. The

He arrived early, parked his car, and got out.  Another car pulled up near him, and the driver told him, “I always park there. You took my place!” The visitor went inside for Sunday School, found an empty seat, and sat down.  A young lady from the church approached him and stated,  “That’s my seat!  You took my place!”  The visitor was somewhat distressed by this rude welcome, but said nothing. After Sunday School, the visitor went into the church sanctuary and sat down.  Another member walked up to him and said,  “That’s where I always sit.  You took my place!”   The visitor was even more troubled by this treatment, but still said nothing. Later, as the congregation was praying for Christ to dwell among them, the visitor stood, and his appearance began to change.  Horrible scars became visible on his hands and on his sandaled feet. Someone from the congregation noticed him and called out, “What happened to you?” The visitor replied, “I took your place.” Meditation: For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that

Thou shalt not be fearful, for most of the things we fear never come to pass. 13th. Thou shalt not cross bridges before you come to them, for no one has yet succeeded in accomplishing this. 14th. Thou shalt handle only one problem at a time and leave the others to the Lord until their turn comes up. 15th. Thou shalt not take troubles to bed with you, for they make very poor bedfellows. 16th. Thou shalt not try to carry the problems of the world on your shoulders, for nobody (except for One) has a back that is broad enough. 17th. Thou shalt be a good listener, for God often speaks to us through the mouths of others. 18th. Thou shall not try to relive yesterday; for good or ill, it is forever gone. Live in the now and rejoice in it. 19th. Thou shalt firmly dismiss feelings of frustration, for 90% of it is rooted in self-pity and will interfere with positive action. 20th. Thou shalt count thy

He took it home so that he could watch the moth come out of the cocoon. On the day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the moth for several hours as the moth struggled to force the body through that little hole. The moth seemed to be stuck and appeared to have stopped making progress. It seemed as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther. The man, in his kindness, decided to help the moth; so he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The moth then emerged easily. But its body was swollen and small, its wings wrinkled and shrivelled. The man continued to watch the moth because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the little moth spent the rest of its life crawling around with a small, swollen body and shrivelled wings. It never was able to fly. The man

While reading the third chapter of Malachi, they came upon a remarkable expression in the third verse: “And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver (Malachi 3:3)” One lady proposed to visit a silversmith and report to them on what he said about the subject. She went accordingly, and without telling the object of her errand, begged the silversmith to tell her about the process of refining silver. After he had fully described it to her, she asked, “But Sir, do you sit while the work of refining is going on?” “Oh, yes madam,” replied the silversmith; “I must sit with my eyes steadily fixed on the furnace, for if the time necessary for refining be exceeded in the slightest degree, the silver will be injured.” The lady at once saw the beauty, and comfort too, of the expression, “He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.” God sees it needful to put His children into a furnace; His eye is steadily intent on the work of purifying, and His wisdom
